NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS

My goodness, another year along and already the phone is ringing with those who are jumping in deep with their new year's resolutions. It is worth knowing that approximately only 1 person in 10 will stick to their resolutions every year.. so getting backup with a therapist is a GREAT IDEA! Anyway - for all of you positive action heros out there - here are a few tips to help:

  • Make Your goals Realistic and Measurable
  • Have periods of reassessment time factored in
  • Remember that habits only take 21 days to anchor in (this can be good habits too!)
  • Make a plan of action, and then relax about it - if you fail to follow it for one day - start again
  • Build in rewards that are not going to set you back (don't reward yourself with a packet of donuts if you are trying to lose weight!)

If you remember these few things and of course organise your support group (therapist, friends to encourage etc etc) you are much more likely to be one of the 10% who succeed in making and keeping new year's resolutions.

Well, PIP PIP,

take good care of yourselves,

and to enjoy good health and happiness
